Lawson, Marin Amaya Set for Cross Country State Meets
Robeson County will be represented by two runners, Nate Lawson and Gerardo Marin Amaya, at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association's cross country state championships.
Lawson and Marin Amaya have impressed all season and will now compete against the best in the state at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville.
- Marin Amaya will compete in the 4A boys race at 2:25 p.m. on Friday.
- Lawson will run the 7A boys race at 9:40 a.m.
“It feels good (to be headed to the state championship),” Lawson said. “I just have to keep going and keep the same mindset.”
Lawson's strategy is to follow the next best runner and pass him if possible.
