A history of the Military Museum property on Stephens Road will be presented on Nov. 9, showing its transition from ice rink to teen center to temporary City Hall to museum.
The property, where the Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society Museum now stands, was once the neighborhood ice rink.
It was called Shakespeare’s Field and it did not even have an address, said Wendy Richardson, Military Museum CFO.
Richardson has done research to learn about the history of the property and will make a presentation, From Teen Center to Military Museum, The Story of our Building, at 2 p.m.
The building, first built as a teen center after World War II and now housing the Military Museum, celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
