Rep. Diana DeGette and Rep. Morgan Griffith, a bipartisan pair of leaders, are hopeful that some health care bills can clear Congress this year.
Despite limited time on the legislative calendar, DeGette expressed her determination to pass health care legislation, including a cancer prevention bill.
At a Punchbowl News event in Washington, D.C., DeGette and Griffith, chair and ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Health subcommittee, discussed their work.
DeGette highlighted the bipartisan Preventive Health Savings Act, which would require the Congressional Budget Office to factor in savings from preventative care when calculating bill costs.
I call it the prevention dividend.
This bill has been stalled for 15 years but was passed through the committee and House in the last Congressional session, only to be held up in the Senate.
