Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event after a tense exchange between Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.
The incident began when Bosch refused Itsaragrisil’s request for all contestants to "promote the host country" on their social media platforms. He warned her, saying, “You are in Thailand. You are in a game.”
The confrontation, caught on a livestream, intensified as Itsaragrisil reprimanded Bosch for not participating in a photo shoot about Thailand and insisted she verbally commit to promoting the country online.
“I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand.”
When Bosch tried to explain her position, Itsaragrisil accused her of taking orders from Miss Mexico's directors rather than his Miss Universe team in Thailand, then called her a "dummy."
After being told to sit down, Bosch responded, “Because I have a voice,” and added, “You’re not respecting me as a woman.”
Other contestants shouted in protest as Itsaragrisil called for security to remove Bosch. As she left, she said, “As women, you need to show respect for us.”
The incident reveals tensions around respect and autonomy within the Miss Universe organization, highlighting the challenges contestants face in balancing personal beliefs and pageant demands.
