Doncic continued his remarkable start to the season, carrying much of the Lakers' offensive load in the absence of LeBron James and Austin Reaves. Fans praised his late-game three-pointer and strong impact on both offense and defense.
Seven Spurs players reached double figures in scoring, including all five starters. Victor Wembanyama finished with 19 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, but the Spurs fell to a 5-2 record.
At halftime, the Lakers led 60–59, powered by Doncic's 22 first-half points. Wembanyama scored seven points for the Spurs during the first half. The Spurs then dominated a 37-point third quarter, leading 96–88 going into the fourth.
