OpenMind and RoboStore Launch Academic Training Program for Humanoid Robots

OpenMind, a creator of an open artificial intelligence operating system for robotics, together with RoboStore LLC, a distributor of intelligent robotics platforms, have introduced a new educational program designed for humanoid robots.

Just a few years ago, humanoid bots cost over $100,000 to design and deploy, making them more suitable for research or demonstration purposes than for commercial use. With rapid advances in robotics, the cost is projected to drop below $10,000 in the near future.

Advances Driving Robot Intelligence

The emergence of vision-language models and robotics foundation models has greatly accelerated progress in machine physical intelligence. These systems now enable robots to better interpret their environments and take corresponding actions.

Each has contributed significant advances in robotic autonomy and cognitive performance over the past year.

The OM1 Open Platform

Earlier this year, OpenMind launched OM1, an open-source operating system for machine intelligence. OM1 serves as a universal platform enabling robots to reason, perceive, and operate seamlessly in the real world.

“As a parent, I think it’s important for these machines to be easy for humans to understand, guardrail, and improve,” said OpenMind Chief Executive Jan Liphardt.
