A team of Japanese researchers has confirmed that the Universe was hotter in the past, with a temperature roughly double that of today.
Led by Tatsuya Kotani and Professor Tomoharu Oka from Keio University, the team measured the temperature of the cosmic microwave background radiation that has traveled for 7 billion years to reach us.
The research revealed that the Universe's temperature 7 billion years ago was 5.13 degrees above absolute zero, roughly double today's temperature of 2.72 degrees.
The Universe's temperature 7 billion years ago was roughly double that of today.
Author's summary: Universe was twice as hot 7 billion years ago.
