The Portageville Bulldogs beat Malden 61-0 in the Class 1 District opener, advancing to face top-seeded Charleston in the semifinals.
Malden ends its season winless at 0-10. The game took place on a brisk Halloween night at Portageville's football stadium.
“Anytime you get an opportunity to play, it’s exciting,”
said Portageville head coach Aaron Bidwell. The Bulldogs started strong with a 22-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks to touchdowns from junior running back Brody Warren and senior Antonio Hickenbottom.
