Sharks Score 3 Straight to Open 1st Period, Cruise Past Devils
The San Jose Sharks scored three straight goals in the first period, leading to a 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils at SAP Center on Thursday.
Alexander Wennberg and Philipp Kurashev each had a goal and an assist. Other goal scorers for the Sharks included William Eklund, Will Smith, and Tyler Toffoli. Timothy Liljegren had two assists, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 29 saves.
The Devils' Dawson Mercer scored twice on the power play, with Dougie Hamilton having two assists and Jake Allen making 23 saves.
The Sharks have won three of five and earned their first home win of the season, now standing at 3-6-2. The Devils, who had an eight-game winning streak, have lost two straight, now at 8-3-0.
Eklund gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead 42 seconds into the first period.
