Mason County Receives Thousands of Books for Miniature Libraries

Mason County has received a large donation of books for its miniature libraries, thanks to a grant from the Lexington Rotary Club.

A pallet of 2,152 books was shipped to the Mason County Extension Office on October 23 by the International Book Project, based in Lexington, Kentucky.

The books, many of which are well-loved children's books, will be used to stock miniature libraries for individuals living in low-income housing.

The International Book Project was founded after Harriet Van Meter traveled to India in 1965 and saw a desperate need for books, according to the organization's website.

Many of the books donated are well-loved children’s books.
