Marin Voice: Bike Coalition Expresses Support for SMART Train Initiative
The Marin County Bicycle Coalition supported the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District in 2008, joining environmental, transportation, and community advocates.
As the current executive director of MCBC, the coalition supported the effort because SMART promised a connected North Bay with a multiuse pathway alongside the tracks for safe and sustainable travel.
In 2020, when SMART sought an early renewal, MCBC chose not to endorse due to the stalled multiuse pathway, which was a cornerstone of the original promise to voters.
