The OneLIC Neighborhood Plan has been passed by the New York City Council’s Land Use Committee.
The rezoning aims to create 14,700 new homes and 3.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial space in Long Island City, Queens.
“From manufacturing to filmmaking, Long Island City has led many lives over the decades,” Mayor Eric Adams said. “But while much of this neighborhood has seen remarkable growth, other parts have remained frozen in time, stymied by an outdated zoning code that limits new housing and curtails new jobs.
The plan will now undergo a full City Council vote in the coming weeks.
