International Students' Scholarship Contracts to be Tightened

Thousands of international students in Hungary may face tightened scholarship contracts following the ELTE scandal.

A recent incident at ELTE involved historian Alexander Yakobson from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who was silenced during a lecture on 16 October.

“Diverzitás és demokrácia az izraeli társadalomban”

The lecture series is still available on ELTE's website, but only two of the three sessions were attended online due to the disruption.

The issue began when some students wore keffiyehs and shouted that the lecture was political propaganda supporting Israeli genocide, causing a disturbance that could not be calmed.

As a result, two ministers and the university rector demanded accountability.
