Disaster Aid Distribution in Western Alaska

The State of Alaska has started distributing disaster relief payments to residents of Western Alaska affected by ex-Typhoon Halong, with over $217,000 distributed as of Friday.

According to the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the state has received more than 940 applications for individual assistance.

State caseworkers and a Yup'ik speaking public notary are helping with documentation.
