E-ZPass Billing Error Affects Hudson River Bridge Commuters

A billing error has affected approximately 8,000 E-ZPass customers who use the commuter plan for five Hudson River bridges, resulting in erroneous charges.

The New York State Bridge Authority stated that customers enrolled in the commuter plan, which offers a reduced toll of $1.40 for at least 17 trips a month, may have been overcharged during a two-day period in October, specifically on October 9 and 10.

The Bridge Authority operates several bridges, including the Bear Mountain, Newburgh-Beacon, Mid-Hudson, Kingston-Rhinecliff, and Rip Van Winkle bridges.

No official statement from the vendor has been released regarding the cause of the error.
