Belleville Increases Parking Fees
Motorists in Downtown Belleville will face a 50% increase in parking fees starting in the new year.
The hourly parking rate will rise from $1 to $1.50 per hour for on-street spaces and surface parking lots.
Council approved the first phase of a Comprehensive Parking Study to modernize traffic flows and revenues.
- The study, conducted by Paradigm Transportation Solutions Limited, was initiated in early 2024 and completed in July.
- The decision aims to ensure users pay for maintenance and city parking enforcement staff, rather than the general taxpayer.
The approved phase is the first of three, with the study having been temporarily tabled in September for further review by the Downtown Business Improvement Association (DBIA).
