Rail Minister Opens New Station in Essex
Rail minister Lord Hendy visited Britain's newest station, after it opened to passengers. Beaulieu Park in north Chelmsford was built with £141 million from the Government's Housing Infrastructure Fund.
- £12 million from the South-East Local Enterprise Partnership
- £22 million from the developers of Beaulieu
The station has three platforms, 705 parking spaces, and over 500 cycle spaces. The first train to call was the 07.20 to London Liverpool Street.
The operator, Greater Anglia, was nationalised earlier this month.
