Palmeiras' dream of a fourth Libertadores title has become more distant after losing 3-0 to LDU in Ecuador.
The match, played at an altitude of 2,850 meters in Quito, proved challenging for Palmeiras, especially in the first half. LDU utilized long-range shots to try to surprise goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.
LDU's Villamil opened the scoring in the small area, and later, Andreas Pereira handled the ball inside the area. Villamil scored LDU's third goal in added time of the first half.
After the break, Palmeiras improved, with Flaco López and Sosa having good chances, but goalkeeper Dominguez saved the Ecuadorian team.
