Major League Baseball's potential expansion has sparked debate among sports analysts, with many predicting one team will be added in the east and one in the west.
Salt Lake City and Portland, Oregon are top contenders for the western team, according to analysts.
“For me, it’s Salt Lake City and Portland,” said John Canzano, a longtime sports journalist and radio show host in Oregon. “I think they’re underserved markets.”
Canzano believes Portland would be a great fit for an MLB team, but acknowledges Salt Lake City might have an edge.
“If this is a marathon, and it feels like one to me, Salt Lake City is ahead,”
Salt Lake City's ownership group, The Larry H. Miller Group, is seen as a major advantage in the competition.
