Science student May Engelhardt visited Sable Island to carry out research supporting conservation efforts.
May, a third-year student, travelled to the island as the 2025 recipient of the Inspired by Sable Island Post-Secondary Award.
- Location: 300 kilometers southeast of Halifax in the Atlantic Ocean
- Unique features: wild horses, sprawling dunes, and species found nowhere else on Earth
Her proposal to survey horse and seal scat for evidence of invertebrates was chosen for its originality and strong conservation focus.
