Part of a €1bn investment in Irish rail travel, the twin-track upgrade of Cork's busiest commuter rail line is underway.
A brand new track between Glounthaune and Midleton has been completed, with Iarnród Éireann crews repositioning the original track to make space for the new second line.
Once the twin tracks are in place, additional signalling, telecommunications and commissioning works will follow, allowing more commuter services to be introduced.
Improvement works are also being carried out on the Cobh and Mallow lines.
A drone video by DroneHawk shows the progress on the twin Cork line, which is part of a massive €1bn spend across the rail network.
It's a mammoth task
