A massive Amazon Web Services outage is causing disruptions around the world.
The cloud-based service hosts many websites for companies, including the government, universities, and media organizations. Several users reported issues with services like Snapchat, Roblox, Duolingo, and the McDonald’s app.
AWS began investigating the issue at 3 a.m. (ET) and identified a potential cause around 5 a.m. (ET), attributing it to an error with DynamoDB, a system for managing database tables and indexes.
We are seeing significant signs of recovery. Most requests should now be succeeding. We continue to work through a backlog of queued requests.
AWS continues to provide additional information on the issue.
