Jackson House hosted its fourth and final Over the Edge fundraiser, with 82 individuals rappelling down the former Bank of America building on Central Avenue.
Each "hometown hero" raised at least $1,000 for the nonprofit, according to assistant director Tammy Jones.
"It was a little last minute idea I had to celebrate Jackson House being 50 years old this year,"
Jones said Over the Edge would be replaced by an annual soup cook-off in honor of the Jackson House's original identity as a soup kitchen. The first soup cook-off was held alongside Over the Edge this year, with 15 teams competing Friday morning.
