Temperature Records Broken in Multiple Vancouver Island Towns
Several communities in British Columbia, including Port Hardy, Port Alberni, Campbell River, and Qualicum Beach, have set new temperature records.
- Qualicum Beach set a new record low of -1 C on October 14, according to Environment Canada, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992.
- Records have been kept in the area since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.
- A total of 22 communities across B.C. set new records for cold temperatures, including Bella Bella, Blue River, and Whistler.
- In contrast, Fort Nelson set a new warm temperature record of 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
