A 56-year-old Cornwall man faces several charges after a stolen car struck and destroyed a hydro pole on County Road 2 east of Cornwall on October 14.
When officers with the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene near Simser Road, they found a car had left the roadway and struck a hydro pole, completely shearing it off, leaving power lines hanging approximately a metre above the road.
Witnesses reported seeing a man get out of the car and flee on foot. The OPP Canine Unit located the suspect, who had no serious injuries but was transported to hospital as a precaution.
The vehicle had been reported stolen, and the man now faces several charges.
