Columbia Residents Divided on Increased Police Presence Downtown
Last Saturday marked the second weekend of increased police presence in downtown Columbia, following the fatal shooting of Stephen's College student Aiyanna Williams in September.
The City of Columbia Police Chief has increased law enforcement downtown, while Mayor Barbara Buffaloe plans to establish a student advisory council. The city has also introduced rideshare drop-off locations to improve weekend traffic safety.
