Temperature Records Shattered in Multiple Vancouver Island Towns

A total of 23 communities in British Columbia, including Port Hardy, Port Alberni, Campbell River, and Qualicum Beach, have set new temperature records.

According to Environment Canada, Qualicum Beach set a new record low of -1 C on October 14, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992. Records in the area have been kept since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.

In Fort Nelson, a new warm temperature record was set at 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
