Democratic Senator John Fetterman stated that his party is responsible for the ongoing government shutdown.
In a town hall hosted by NewsNation's Chris Cuomo, Fetterman expressed his desire to discuss extending tax credits for healthcare, which are at the center of the shutdown fight.
This was designed by the Democratic Party to expire at the end of the year. This is not something taken from by the Republicans.
According to NPR, the tax credits that make Affordable Care Act health care premiums affordable for many expire in December. Democrats want them extended before enrollment begins on November 1 and have made it a condition to reopen the government.
