On Tuesday, October 14, flights at Kelowna and Victoria airports were delayed due to a hacking incident.
The incident started between 5 p.m. at both Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Victoria International Airport (YYJ), where pro-Hamas messages were displayed on screens and announced through public address systems.
"The YLW team has successfully removed the unauthorized messaging," said the airport in a press release.
The messaging, which included "Free Palestine" and cursing out the U.S., was visible and audible for about two minutes, according to a Kelowna Reddit post.
The City of Kelowna stated that the cybersecurity incident was limited to a cloud-based third-party software provider.
The airport restored its flight information display screens and worked on restoring the PA system.
