Operating License for Zhangzhou 2 Issued
China has issued the operating license for Zhangzhou 2, allowing fuel loading for the site's second Hualong One reactor.
The unit marks another step in CNNC's multi-unit expansion, with two more reactors under construction and additional units planned.
- China's Ministry of Ecology & Environment issued the operating license for unit 2 of Zhangzhou NPP in Fujian province.
- 177 fuel assemblies will be loaded into the core of the reactor.
- The unit is the second of four Hualong One (HPR1000) reactors under construction at the site, with two more planned.
China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) began loading fuel assemblies into the reactor core.
Construction licenses for Zhangzhou 1&2 were issued in 2019 to CNNC-Guodian Zhangzhou Energy Company.
