Iowans are criticizing a proposed CO2 pipeline, dubbed the "pipeline to nowhere," which currently ends at the South Dakota border near Sioux Falls.
Despite South Dakota Governor Rhoden signing a bill into law that bans eminent domain for CO2 pipelines, the project is still under consideration just minutes from the Sioux Falls area.
"It's a pipeline to nowhere at this point,"
said Jessica Mazour, a representative of the Iowa Sierra Club, commenting on the new pipeline map submitted to the Iowa Utilities Commission.
Mazour expressed concerns that the purpose and destination of the CO2 are unclear, stating
"They're not telling us where the CO2 is going and what it will be used for."
