Sonoma Exhibit Features Artist's Detailed Botanical Illustrations

Sonoma artist Jill O'Keeffe's detailed botanical illustrations are on exhibit at Sonoma Valley Regional Library through October.

When O'Keeffe was a high school student, she was selected to draw illustrations for a book by a prominent botanist, sparking a lifelong passion.

I learned to love the focus and detail required for botanical illustration,
O'Keeffe said.
I loved seeking out all the tiny details of the plants and creating an illustration of which I was proud.

All the drawings were from live or dried specimens, created using quill pens in black and white. Sixty years later, O'Keeffe continues to illustrate plants, collaborating with other botanical illustrators to advance her skills.
