Alberta is getting new licence plates. The UCP announced a 'tournament-style' online vote to select a new design, replacing the current one from 1984.
The new plate will feature the words 'Strong and Free', adopted as the provincial motto in 1980. This phrase serves as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position within a united Canada.

The UCP notes that 'Strong and Free' is also part of the party's slogan and a reference to the Strong and Free Club for top supporters.
