James Webb telescope finds something 'very exciting' shooting out of first black hole ever imaged

James Webb Telescope Discovers Exciting Phenomenon

Scientists using the James Webb Space Telescope's infrared camera have captured a gigantic jet blasting out of M87*, the first black hole ever imaged, in unprecedented detail.

The new images, published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics, reveal previously unseen details of the massive jets shooting out of the black hole, as well as the clearest views yet of the counter-jet.

The jet of subatomic particles is catapulting through space at almost the speed of light from the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy Messier 87, located 54 million light-years from Earth.

Author's summary: New James Webb Space Telescope images reveal exciting details about M87* black hole.
