A train derailment in Columbia has resulted in significant road closures and the evacuation of a school, but fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency confirmed that the derailed train cars were empty. Columbia Academy's campus was evacuated as a precaution, with buses departing at 1:00 p.m. and all after-school events canceled.
- Roads have been closed, including those highlighted by the Columbia Police Department.
- The Tennessee Department of Transportation is performing emergency utility work on State Route 243 Northbound in Maury County, blocking all northbound lanes and closing the southbound lanes.
No injuries have been reported.
