Families of men killed by Topeka police officers in 2022 continue to ask the city for accountability and transparency.
Their families are still pleading with a city they believe has failed to acknowledge and take accountability for their deaths.
In 2022, three men - Taylor Lowery, Christopher Kelley, and Dylan Walstrom - died during separate officer-involved shootings.
Everyday I don’t have a dad, due to our ‘supportive system,’ so it’s just emotional to carry on
- said Lah’Niyah Duncan Lowery, Taylor Lowery's daughter.
According to the attorney representing the families, LaRonna Lassiter-Saunders, loved ones are still grieving without closure.
When you have city officials that have not acknowledged or dismissed and have acted as if the family is in the wrong for speaking out and trying to get justice
- Lassiter-Saunders said.
