Students at Porter Elementary School celebrated cultural diversity on Tuesday by honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with various activities.
The event featured students walking the halls in clothes representing different Hispanic cultures, as well as cultural folklore dance performances held outside for students and faculty.
"It's important because it promotes diversity... but also a sense of belonging as well," said Alex Perez, the Porter Elementary School Intake Clerk.
Perez emphasized the importance of creating a sense of belonging for students of different cultural backgrounds, particularly given the school's high population of Hispanics.
