Chard Fire Crews Extinguish Recycling Lorry Blaze
Fire crews from Chard helped extinguish a fire in a recycling lorry in the early hours of the morning.
Devon and Somerset fire and rescue received calls at 7:38am on Tuesday, October 14, reporting a fire within a waste collection lorry on Millwey Industrial Estate, Axminster.
- Fire crews from Chard and Charmouth were sent to the scene with a water bowser from Bridport.
- Chard firefighters arrived first and confirmed smoke was issuing from the rear of the lorry.
Crews from Chard and Charmouth worked together to extinguish the fire after the lorry's contents were emptied onto the road.
Once the fire was out, crews used a thermal image camera to monitor for hotspots before handing the scene over to the recycling company.
No injuries or additional damage were reported.
