The Allahabad University has suspended 16 students for their involvement in an alleged ragging incident, according to officials on Tuesday.
An anti-ragging squad conducted a surprise inspection of Sir Sunderlal Hostel on October 9 after a complaint of ragging was filed. The inspection found several students prima facie involved in the act.
A disciplinary committee was constituted to probe the matter and later recommended action against the 16 students. The university has also issued show-cause notices to the suspended students.
No comment from the students or the university administration was available.
