Prioritized Safety Upgrades on Queensland Freight Route
Safety upgrades are set to begin on a key Queensland freight corridor, which sees up to 15,000 vehicles daily.
Planning is underway for road upgrades along the 60-kilometer Warrego Highway stretch between Toowoomba and Dalby, known for its poor crash history.
The project, part of the Targeted Road Safety Program, will include road widening, flattening road edges, new signage, line marking, hazard removal, and dedicated turn lanes at Speed Road near Oakey.
Construction is scheduled to start in late 2025 and continue into 2026, following the design completion in September.
