The Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, has developed a plan to make all its buildings net-zero by 2030, inspired by Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical Laudato Si'.
The plan includes all 59 parishes in the diocese, spanning 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky, and is a response to Pope Francis' call to engage in dialogue about the future of the planet.
The earth and all in it belongs to God.
This initiative is a direct response to Laudato Si', which urged the Church to acknowledge environmental challenges.
