Steampunk cat masquerade fundraiser aims to tackle kitten overpopulation

Steampunk Cat Masquerade Fundraiser to Address Kitten Overpopulation

The Big Thicket Cat Sanctuary in southeast Texas is hosting a steampunk-themed cat masquerade event to tackle the region's kitten overpopulation crisis.

The sanctuary, which focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating kittens, aims to ensure they are healthy, spayed or neutered, and ready for adoption into loving homes. Currently, the sanctuary cares for 54 kittens, with numbers fluctuating due to ongoing adoptions and rescues.

"We realized there's a serious problem," said Jerry Mendez from the sanctuary. "We have to do something about this."

Proceeds from the raffles will fund veterinary care and other needs for the kittens.
