Komitas Duo Wins European Honors
The Komitas Duo, consisting of pianist Hasmik Sarukian and cellist Egon Buchner, earned second prize at the 10th European Chamber Music Competition Karlsruhe.
The competition, held on September 24-26 in Karlsruhe, Germany, is organized by the city of Karlsruhe and the Max Reger Institute, with the Karlsruhe University of Music as its sponsor.
Composer Wolfgang Rihm, a native of Karlsruhe, was the patron of the competition until his death in July 2024.
It is named after one of the initiators of the competition, a musician and former rector of the Academy.
