Construction workers in Schenectady uncovered a casket that may date back to the 1800s, according to police.
A call was made to the police on Monday morning from the company working on Westover Place, reporting the discovery of human remains.
“At this point, we’ve discovered that the remains are inside what appears to be an iron casket maybe from the 1800s or so,”
said Bradley Carlton. The police do not believe there is anything suspicious about the discovery.
The area of Westover Place and Georgetta Dix Plaza has been closed. The New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit is investigating the scene.
