For the first time, Montana officially commemorates Indigenous Peoples' Day as a legal holiday.

After a decade of advocacy by state lawmakers and supporters, Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte signed Senate Bill 224 into law, establishing the day as an official state holiday alongside Columbus Day.
