The Kogi state government has advised churches situated in “crime-prone areas” to suspend their services temporarily following recent kidnappings. This preventive measure aims to protect worshippers amid rising security concerns.
Authorities emphasized the high risk in certain localities and urged places of worship to reconsider holding gatherings until the security situation improves. The directive follows a series of fresh abduction incidents targeting churchgoers in the region.
"Worship centers within identified crime-prone areas are strongly advised to suspend services to safeguard the lives of their members," officials stated.
The Kogi government’s recommendation reflects the urgent need to prioritize safety amid escalating abduction threats in vulnerable communities.
