Côte d’Ivoire in Talks With Russia's Skolkovo on AI and Digital Hubs

Côte d’Ivoire is in discussions with Russia’s Skolkovo Innovation Center to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology hubs. The talks explored potential collaboration with the Ivorian Technological Free Zone (VITIB), focusing on startups, research partnerships, and the development of smart digital services.

The meeting took place shortly after Côte d’Ivoire approved a 146 million USD budget for its 2026 digital transformation plan, reflecting the government’s strategy to modernize public services, expand its innovation ecosystem, and attract global tech partners.

According to local sources, the initiative aims to connect Ivorian innovation projects with international technology ecosystems. Skolkovo’s experience in fostering startups and research-driven enterprises was highlighted as a possible model for the Ivorian tech landscape.

“Our goal is to make Côte d’Ivoire a leading digital hub in West Africa through strategic international partnerships,” stated a representative from the Ministry of Digital Economy.
