Tratto is back. Why I've fallen in love with the Phoenix restaurant all over again
## Tratto Restaurant Reopens Chris Bianco's acclaimed Italian restaurant, Tratto, has reopened its doors in its original location at The Shops at Town & Country in Phoenix. After relocating temporarily to Van Buren Street due to the pandemic, the restaurant returned to its initial site next to Pizzeria Bianco on 20th Street in September 2025. The space has been renovated and expanded by about 400 square feet to offer an even better dining experience. ## Restaurant and Chef Background Tratto first opened in 2016 as a rustic Italian eatery with a Southwest influence, founded by two-time James Beard award-winning chef Chris Bianco. The restaurant became known for artisanal wood-fired pizzas and its seasonal Italian menu, blending traditional flavors with regional twists. Bianco expressed excitement for the reopening, describing it as “pretty special and surreal” and a chance to reconnect with longtime patrons as well as new guests. ## Transition and New Features The temporary move to the Van Buren location allowed Tratto to accommodate social distancing requirements and improved kitchen space during the pandemic. Its return to the Town & Country location has ended the use of a second location of Bar Bianco, a wine and antipasto bar that was previously serving as a waiting area for the pizzeria. Now, Tratto continues as the main focus in the revitalized space, ensuring the restaurant’s legacy and culinary approach persist. > "Can't wait to share it with our old and new friends and family," Bianco shared on social media regarding the reopening. ## Dining Experience and Menu Customers can expect the continuation of Tratto’s celebrated seasonal Italian menu enriched with a Southwestern influence, using high-quality ingredients and Bianco’s signature artisanal techniques. The expanded and renovated dining area enhances the welcoming atmosphere that originally attracted many. *** Chris Bianco's Tratto has successfully returned to its roots in Phoenix, combining expanded space with a beloved menu to reclaim its status as a top Italian dining destination. The thoughtful updates and heartfelt reopening mark an exciting new chapter for the restaurant and its community.
