Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, has opened up about the physical effects of her previous struggles with alcohol and heroin addiction. The 27-year-old singer disclosed in a TikTok video on November 10 that she has developed a perforated septum due to drug use.
In the video, Jackson explained,
“I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable. I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose, and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”
She demonstrated by shining a phone light into her nose to reveal the hole, clarifying that a perforated septum differs from a deviated septum.
A perforated septum, medically termed septal perforation, is a hole in the cartilage or bone separating the nostrils. It is usually caused by injuries or conditions that damage blood vessels in the nose, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Reflecting on the cause of her condition, Jackson said,
“And that is from what you think it’s from.”
She then cautioned viewers,
“Don’t do drugs, kids.”However, she also acknowledged personal choice, adding,
“Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do.”
She concluded with a warning:
“But I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”
