When Brian Johnson Crashed a Baseball Star’s Wedding and Shredded Led Zeppelin with Mark Tremonti

Some stories seem unbelievable, but this one is true. In 2004, Mark Tremonti, guitarist for Alter Bridge and Creed, attended a wedding in Florida and ended up jamming Led Zeppelin’s "Rock and Roll" with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson.

The wedding was a reception for former MLB star Johnny Damon. Tremonti explained to Metal Hammer, “Johnny’s a famous baseball player in the States: he lives in my neighbourhood and he’s a friend of mine. He invited us to his wedding, and Brian Johnson was there.”

Someone at the event suggested Tremonti approach Brian for an impromptu jam session. Tremonti recalled, “He was getting a drink, and I walked up behind him like, ‘Hi, Brian; I’m Mark, I’m a guitar player. Do you want to go onstage and jam some songs?’ He grabbed his gear and went, ‘F**k yeah, mate!’ Immediately. No second thought about it!”

The duo launched into a three-song set starting with "Rock and Roll" from Led Zeppelin IV, the only song Tremonti clearly remembers. He admitted, “We didn’t play a single AC/DC song,” as guests and random attendees joined on stage, turning the night into a wild, joyous celebration.
